Mid Cheshire Committee of Benevolence helps Northwich Brain Tumour Support
WBro Kevin Dickens, Chairman of the Mid Cheshire Committee of Benevolence presented a cheque for £250 to Steve Sharman, the Northwich Brain Tumour Support Group Facilitator at the group’s monthly meeting on 4 April.
The group was set up in 2013 to help to support people in the Mid Cheshire area, who had been diagnosed with a brain tumour. The group also provides assistance to their carers, families and friends. There are now over 30 members of the group.
This latest donation will be used to provide disability equipment to some of the members who are unable to afford certain items.
The Facilitator said: “Without people like The Mid Cheshire Committee of Benevolence, groups like ours would be unable to continue. The Mid Cheshire Committee of Benevolence has been very supportive, it originally donated funds to kick start the group into action and has since provided further funding for premises hire.“
TLC Newsletter Spring 2016
Greetings and welcome to the Spring and first 2016 newsletter for the Cheshire TLC.
The A & E departments of the Cheshire Hospitals have in some instances reached crisis point as they continue to treat an ever increasing number of patients. Likewise the TLC is experiencing a rise in the number of TLC Bears being donated to the Children’s Emergency Departments. The total number of TLC Teddies donated in Cheshire is now 114,028
Sadly Frank Loftus (Area 3 Rep) was called to higher service at the end of last year and our commiserations go to his family.
Michael Shiels has now been appointed the Area 3 TLC Representative while Eric Skillen has taken over the reins for Area 1
We welcome them to the TLC family.
The Clifton Road, Birkenhead, Carol Concert was held on 17th December, led by the Port/sup> Sunlight ‘Lyceum Brass‘ band. The event was extremely well attended with everyone in good voice and there was a surprise appearance from Father Christmas. The proceeds from the evening £361 together with the proceeds of the Area 2 Spring lunch on 13th March was donated to the TLC.
Fund raising for the TLC certainly runs in the Mills family, following on from the fantastic donation from Lucy Mills, her grandfather WBro Don Mills (Seacombe Lodge No. 3468) raised a magnificent £200. Thanks also to the Brethren who comprise the ‘Cheshire Journeymen‘ for their generous donation resulting from their visit to 2 Scottish Lodges.
The TLC road show would be delighted to attend any Village Fetes, or suitable events in your Area which would welcome our display.
The TLC merchandise has been updated including 3 new lapel pin designs for you to add to your collection. TLC Merchandise Catalogue
Finally looking ahead we will be producing a wall planner for 2017. For a small donation of £35 to the TLC Appeal your business can be advertised on a planner which will be distributed throughout Cheshire and you will receive 15 copies to use or to give to friends.
Thank you for your generosity and fraternal regards
