Rules of the Club

MI DDLEWICH MASONIC HALL CLUB


The Club shall be called the Middlewich Masonic Hall Club.
  1. The objective of the Club shall be to provide social, recreational and other opportunities for the social intercourse of its members.
  2. That all the members of Craft Lodges Avondale, John Brunner, Kinderton, Mid Cheshire and Dane Lodges of the Ancient and Honourable Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons, Chapters John Brunner and Sinceritas Middlewich Mark Lodge, Four Cardinal Virtues Royal Ark Mariner Lodge, Vivat Chapter, Vale of Weaver Conclave and all Brethren of other Orders who may meet at the Masonic Hall be enrolled as members on payment of an annual subscription of 1(one) penny.
  3. The management of the Club shall be vested in a committee.  Each of the five Craft Lodges elect two Brethren to serve on the Hall Committee with the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary appointed at the annual general meeting by the members EVERY THREE YEARS and shall be called the Management Committee. This Committee shall be responsible for the purchase and supply of intoxicating liquor and other Club requirements.  The Committee shall have the power to summon a general meeting giving FOURTEEN DAYS notice and the Secretary shall also call a general meeting on the requisition of not less than TWELVE members.
  4. That members of other Masonic Lodges be eligible for membership on application and payment of a fee fixed by the Committee on a temporary basis when attending the Hall. Applications for membership from persons other than Masons shall be granted or withheld at the discretion of the Committee and subject to a fee set by them.
  5. Each member may introduce as a visitor or guest, any person, NOT EXCEEDING TEN, on any one occasion such visitor(s) shall become temporary members of the club.  The visitor(s) name to be given to the Hall Secretary on his arrival.
  6. Persons attending any function at the Club premises organised by a member present at the function and holding that function with the authority of the Committee, shall be admitted to the Club premises for the duration of that function provided that the names of those attending be supplied to the Secretary at least TWO DAYS prior to the event. The number of such functions shall be limited to TWENTY-FOUR at the discretion of the Committee.
  7. The Club’s financial year shall coincide with the calendar year, i.e. ending on the 31st December each year.  A general meeting shall be held in April each year to review the working of the preceding twelve months and to elect such officers as may be necessary for the good running and government of the Club.
  8. Every member shall on payment of his subscription be provided with a copy of these rules by which he must be bound and agree to the limitations of the Hall.
  • Any member whose subscription is three months overdue shall cease to be a member of the Club.
  • The licensing hours shall be such as agreed with the Local Authority in force at that time and notified to the Secretary and Committee.
  • Notwithstanding anything herein contained, when the Club premises are:

Hired and used for the purpose of a banquet, dinner dance, wedding reception, or anniversary party or reunion or other similar function of a private nature, not open to the admission of the general public, on payment of a fee at the time of booking such a function, the Committee have the power to provide for the supply to and the consumption of intoxicating liquor to those attending the function, notwithstanding they are not members of the Club, but it shall be a condition precedent to such supply that the person hiring the Club premises for the above purpose shall supply the Secretary of the Club, at least 48 hours before the function, the total numbers attending the function and names.

The number of such functions shall be limited to TWELVE in any one year

PROVIDED ALWAYS:

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES shall intoxicating liquor be supplied for consumption off the premises to other than a member of the Club.
